U. S. Customs and Border Protection ( CBP), the State Department, and the FBI were all aware of Donald Trump’s would-be assassin, Ryan Routh. They were aware that he had a history of violent and unsteady mentality.

His day in Ukraine was the one that raised the most alarm bells.  ,
Chelsea Walsk, a nurse who recently returned from Ukraine, told the CBP in a regular meeting that Routh’s threats of violence worried her and that she had had some encounters with him. According to the Wall Street Journal, she told the questioning representative that Routh was “among the most harmful Americans she met during her month-and-a-half-long stay in Ukraine.”
Walsh kept a book containing names of people she met who were “predatory” or risky.’ Of all the individuals on it, Ryan Routh may be number one,'” Walsh told the Journal, who reviewed her book.
According to a journalist for MSNBC, Routh was Justifiable in his desire to attack Trump.
Like nearly all would-be and real murderers, Routh saw himself in noble terms. His political support for Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump is all over the image because of this. He did n’t value ideology. The only thing that mattered was how he could portray his fantasies as crucial people rather than the gloomy, lifeless type of person he is.
Routh’s conduct had been flagged to the FBI in the past, though not in relation to Ukraine. A tipster told the FBI in 2019 that Routh had a rifle despite being a murderer, but when questioned further had n’t check providing the information, an FBI official said Monday. The ministry passed the data onto regulators in Honolulu, where Routh was living at the time, and closed the investigation.
Routh was convicted of some weapon expenses, including possessing a” weapon of mass destruction. In 2002, a police officer in North Carolina pulled him over because he did not possess a valid passport, which caused him to be in a stalemate. He fled the scene and was eventually forced to retreat to his roofer’s department. Officers entered and discovered Routh with a device gun after he refused to turn himself in.

Routh was convicted of felony possession of a weapon of mass destruction and some offenses, including carrying a concealed weapon, struck and move, resisting an officer, and driving while his license was revoked, according to the Raleigh News &, Observer.
It was in Ukraine that Routh started to appear plunging. People connected to the support effort in Ukraine describe a guy who is eager to matter.
” A mad idiot, but no one’s actually surprised. One British fighting for Ukraine told the , New York Post,” There are people like that who show up and are eager to help and get important.” And he was just one of those who was “on the scarier end of things.”
One Ukrainian volunteer told the Post that Routh was n’t there to aid Ukraine but to “live out a fantasy.”
Many of the persons present are not really below for Ukraine, they are not really there for the battle. They’re around to kind of become famous or sit out a story or feel like they’re a part of anything,” the volunteer said.
They say that Ukraine is kind of their last chance to make it. I think sadly that for the vast majority of them, that’s no helping.”
It certainly did n’t help Routh. He became a dangerous figure among foreign soldiers who he fought so hard to meet.
” I ran into him again, he struck me as unequal and dangerous, “one warrior said.
Routh made a number of ridiculous claims about what he was doing for the Russian war effort, including recruiting forces for Kyiv’s foreign army.  ,
Nurse Walsh was alarmed by Routh’s growing dangers against officials.  ,

She claimed that during numerous discussions and fights with him in Kyiv, she changed her opinion of him. Walsh recalled that he also mentioned Trump and President Biden, but Walsh said she could n’t recall if he threatened them. He also mentioned North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
When she learned in 2023 that Routh was attempting to recruit Palestinian refugees to struggle in Ukraine, she filed an online statement with the FBI and Interpol outlining her fears about Routh and another, she claimed. She claimed neither Customs nor the FBI followed up with her. The FBI did n’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
It’s doubtful that any government organization that was conscious of Walsh’s problems or that anyone else’s concerns about Routh might have had an impact. However, Routh’s hands of a weapon he should never have owned raises suspicions.
