In a letter released this morning, the American Academy of Pediatrics ( AAP ) cites leftist politics that conflict with medical research to make its highly influential clinical recommendations for giving gender-confused children opposite-sex hormones and procedures. According to the AGs, by doing this, the AAP does had violated state consumer protection laws that demand reliability when selling goods and services.
The AAP has abandoned its responsibility to appear health assessment, read the attorneys general and the approaching AAP presidents.
The AAP claims in a 2018 plan speech that using puberty-blocking drugs to treat children with gender dysphoria is “reversible”. That “is false and deceptive”, the constitutional authorities position. Beyond health debate, it is believed that puberty blockers do not fully reverse, but instead have significant long-term effects. This AAP state of trans intervention reversibility, according to the letter, “requires quick retraction and correction.”
AAP spokeswoman Lisa Robinson, who was reached for comment on Tuesday morning, claimed she had n’t seen the letter yet. The text cites an April 2024 detailed study review commissioned by the United Kingdom’s wellness services, known as the” Cass document”. It discovered that the inevitable adverse effects of puberty-blocking drugs may include:
- meddling with brain enhancement
- compromising good tooth mass
- problems to metabolic health, or the body’s ability to use power quickly, leading to weight gain, weight loss, and other health issues
- decline of normal activities of menstruation.
The attorneys general claim that AAP largely copied the medical advice of an activist group called the World Professional Association for Transgender Health ( WPATH) and relied on politics rather than medicine to make its transgender recommendations for children.
Investigators Michael Shellenberger and Mia Hughes released the” WPATH Files” earlier this year, which revealed that many of the organization’s states were largely supported by philosophy, and its people privately acknowledged this. WPATH’s internal communications revealed that its people “frequently discuss improvising procedures as they go along” and that they are aware that neither the parents nor the patients they treat are frequently appropriately informed about the risks of transgender methods, including lifelong weeping from open wounds, and more.
According to a report containing the WPATH disclosures,” These internal contacts reveal that WPATH advocates for some random physician practices, including hormonal and surgical experiment on minors and resilient adults.” ” Its approach to medicine is consumer-driven and unscientific, and its people appear to be engaged in political engagement, not knowledge”.
The WPATH Files even showed, as The New York Times reported, that a major Biden presidency health standard, the transgender man Rachel Levine, properly pressured WPATH to remove age limit recommendations for these difficult procedures. Some doctors have performed twice mastectomies on girls as young as 12 years old.
The AAP has made it known that it relies on WPATH’s” standards of care” for children with gender distress in making its clinical recommendations that hundreds of doctors across the United States. In its lawful efforts to compel says to permit trans initiatives on children, the Biden Department of Justice cites both WPATH and the WPATH-relying AAP as health officials.
After puberty, the majority of children who have gender dysphoria accept their sex, especially if they have n’t had transgender treatment, according to a number of studies.
The attorneys common make it clear that they may be bringing legal actions against AAP in response to state consumer protection laws that prohibit making false claims about goods and services. The constitutional officers request that AAP provide written messages to 14 questions that include:

- ” Provide a copy of all communications the AAP has had regarding the 2018 AAP policy statement, transgender care, WPATH, SOC8, cross-sex hormones, puberty blockers, or any related topic with any member or representative of the Biden Administration, including but not limited to communications with Assistant Secretary for Health Dr. Rachel Levine, Sarah Boateng, or any other member of Sec. Levine’s staff”.
