Jewish airstrikes on South Beriut resulted in the death of Hezbollah leader Ibrahim Mohammed Kobeissi, the Iran-backed organization announced on Wednesday. According to Lebanon, Israel had claimed that it had “eliminated” Kobeissi in a hit that left six people dead and 15 injured.
Hezbollah stated in a statement that he was “martyred on the road to Jerusalem” and that” Kobeissi was an important source of knowledge in the field of weapons.”
Before, the Israeli military had said that it “eliminated Ibrahim Mohammed Kobeissi, the captain of the weapon and rocket system of the Hezbollah criminal company”.
Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, a spokeswoman for the Jewish military, announced at a press conference that “at least two” additional commanders from Kobeissi’s device were likewise “eliminated” in a new attack.
This procedure followed Israel’s reported “targeted attack” in the southern cities of Beirut. Hezbollah afterward stated that its third-in-command, Ali Karake, was dead and had moved to protection after being targeted in the attack on Monday.
” Israeli army assault on Ghobeiri in Beirut’s southern cities killed six people and wounded 15″, Lebanon’s health department said.
Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in cross-border markets of fire since the start of the Gaza conflict in October, with new escalations raising issues of an all-out war.
Israel said that its warplanes targeted 1, 600 Hezbollah sites on Monday ( local time ), destroying cruise missiles, long- and short-range rockets, and attack drones, including weaponry hidden in private homes.
This increase followed a major exchange of fire on Sunday, during which Hezbollah fired about 150 missiles, weapons, and drones into north Israel.
Last year, several communications devices, mostly used by Hezbollah, exploded in different locations across Lebanon, resulting in 39 deaths and almost 3, 000 injuries, many of whom were civilians. Israel’s government has n’t confirmed or refuted involvement, despite Lebanon’s claim that Israel was responsible for the explosions.
