Legislative representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL ) introduced a bill to stop federal funding for non-governmental organizations that help illegal immigrants.
The costs, titled the Blocking Assistance and Resources to Limit Illegal Entry and Residency Act, would end “federal monetary help for companies that help or facilitate unlawful immigration.” It is co-sponsored by Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-CO ), Mary Miller (R-IL), Eric Burlison (R-MO), Randy Weber (R-TX ), Troy Nehls (R-TX ), Andy Ogles (R-TN), and Andy Biggs (R-AZ ).
“NGOs and organizations serve as the foot men for the Biden-Harris government’s mass-migration plans by helping , improper aliens , cross the border and be around for years after illegally”, Gaetz said in a statement. ” My policy, the BARRIER Act, may remove these companies of their national cash, which can be used to help those who break federal law. The federal government should n’t be providing for the destruction of its own nation.
The legislation would boycott “providing, promoting, or marketing travel, house, economic support, or legal help” to illegal immigrants.
A sizable system of NGOs facilitates the entry of many immigrants who enter the country without breaking American immigration laws. Over the past few years, The Heritage Foundation has conducted numerous studies into the organizations. According to Lora Ries of the Heritage Foundation, they were accused of facilitating an “illegal immigration professional complex” along with other partners that assist workers transiting through Central America.
Some of the biggest companies that are part of the network include Catholic Charities USA, Jewish Family Services, Global Refuge, and United Way Worldwide.

In December 2022, Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX ) called for an investigation into NGOs facilitating illegal immigration.
In a letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, he wrote,” There have recently been reports that nonprofit organizations may include assisted with illegal border crossings near El Paso.” We also understand that NGOs may be illegally orchestrating another border crossings through actions on both sides of the border, including in industries other than El Paso. In light of these studies, I’m asking the Texas Attorney General’s Office to launch an investigation into the influence of Organizations in arranging and facilitating the passage of illegal immigrants across our borders. In addition, I’m prepared to collaborate with you on any reasonable legislative proposals your business might have to address the continuing border crisis and the potential contribution of NGOs to it.
