EXCLUSIVE —&nbsp, Detention of illegal immigrants at the state ‘s&nbsp, borders&nbsp, plunged in September to their lowest level under President Joe Biden, according to data reviewed by the Washington Examiner.

Additionally, the decrease in illegal border crossings means that Biden will have the fewest illegal immigration in any 12-month phase of his presidency come to an end.

The achievement represents a return for the Biden administration, which has had the highest number of illegal immigrant prosecutions under any leader. The collapse in border crossings may throw Vice President Kamala Harris in a better placement socially in light of the immigration issue, which has caused American citizens to be concerned about a lot in the run-up to the November election.

An administration standard requested permission to discuss primary border data figures on Friday evening. Really under 56, 000 immigrants were detained by the Border Patrol trying to enter the country globally last month. This brings the year-long total of arrests to about 1.56 million between October 2023 and September 2024.

According to the administration official, the southern border’s September figure was the lowest monthly average since August 2020, making it the lowest month since August 2020.

All but roughly 1, 000 of the nearly 56, 000 immigrants arrested nationwide occurred at the U. S. Mexico border. The remaining 1, 000 were largely encountered at the Canadian border.

In total over the past year, Border Patrol agents encountered 1, 557, 358 immigrants at the northern, southern, and coastal borders.

That figure is down from 2.06 million in 2023, 2.2 million in 2022, and 1.66 million in 2021, according to U. S. Customs and Border Protection statistics available online.

In spite of criticism that she did little to address the root causes of migration during her “border czar” stint, immigration has been the top issue among voters this election cycle, and Harris has had to make a case to voters that she can manage the border if elected president.

Harris, the Democratic nominee, made his first official visit to the Arizona border last week. She visited Douglas to observe the installation of a border fence during the Obama administration.

The dramatic drop in illegal immigration since December is notable for Biden, who oversaw the country’s historic border crisis. The monthly number of arrests has slowly decreased over the past six months, dropping from&nbsp, 250, 000&nbsp, last December to 83, 000 in June and falling since then after Biden implemented an executive order this summer that curbed crossings.

CBP has attributed the drop to a number of things, including bilateral discussions with Mexican government officials in December that have improved cooperation between nations in tackling illegal immigration.

” We have executed the largest surge of removals and disruptive activities against human smuggling networks in the past decade”, said&nbsp, Troy A. Miller, a senior official performing the duties of the commissioner, in a statement in July. We have increased our efforts to stop the criminal organizations and transportation networks that are putting vulnerable migrants in danger while selling lies and profiting from them, in collaboration with partners throughout the hemisphere and around the world.

In June, Biden took executive action&nbsp and put a new rule in place to turn away border crossing people rather than release thousands of people who were daily entering the country to wait court dates years down the road.

Mid-October is when the official figures for September border data are scheduled to be released. Immigration not included in Border Patrol arrests made at the ports of entry.
