According to the New Zealand Defense Force, “rescuers battled tides and winds that were pushing the existence boats and sea vessels toward the islands, and swells made the rescue effort mainly difficult.”
The NZDF’s affirmation stated that the actual cause of the grounding is unknown at this time, and further investigation will be needed. At 6.40am Sunday, the fleet was listing heavily and dust was visible from the ship. It was known to possess capsized and was below the area at 9.00 am.
