A , Centre County , citizen was arrested Friday after being accused of threatening violence against Democratic political candidate , Donald Trump , the day before his protest at Penn State.
Paul J. Gavenonis, 74, of , Spring Township, was charged with criminal counts of violent threats and disorderly do.
The registered Democrat described climbing to the top of a tall building and saying,” You ca n’t take a gun in or the students will see it,” according to university police in an affidavit of probable cause when purchasing a parking pass at the university’s transportation office.
Gavenonis, who the Centre County Public Defender Office said uses she/her nouns, therefore made a “racking gun action” with her fingers, a policeman wrote in the charging file.
” I hate Donald Trump”, Gavenonis was quoted by authorities as saying. ” I’d like to take that guy”.
The employee of the transport office who processed the parking pass called the police after receiving the statement expressed concern and concern for the purchase. Gavenonis was interviewed Friday night by school police and the , Secret Service , inside the , Pattee Library.
When asked if she had wished for or could have been shot, Gavenonis responded, “probably, yeah,” according to authorities.
” Honestly, I hope someone did get him”, officers quoted Gavenonis as saying after they arrested her. She also admitted to having a weapons inside her home.
The affidavit does n’t reveal whether Gavenonis was trying to get a parking pass for Saturday’s rally or for any other reason. University officers left a text with it.
Gavenonis was arraigned Friday nights by District Judge , Steven Lachman, who denied bail. She is incarcerated at the , Centre County Correctional Facility.
No defense attorney was listed. As of Monday evening, the Centre County Public Defender Office had not been chosen to represent Gavenonis.
Her initial hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
