DUTCHESS COUNTY, New York—” I’m sad dear, but you already voted”.
” No I did n’t”, 55-year-old Mike Miner told a Wappingers Falls poll worker on Sunday— but that’s not what vote data showed.
Only one evening after early voting on Saturday began, Miner told The Federalist that he had decided to vote first.
” I went up to the table and was told I presently voted”, Miner said. ” I ask,’ Where did I voting?’ Because, of training, this is very shocking to me. And they told me I voted in the area of Fishkill]which is located next to Wappingers], 22 days after early voting began on Saturday”.
Miner received an oath vote, which is a temporary ballot secured inside an oath envelope. The Dutchess County Board of Elections conducted a nonpartisan investigation into the scenario and determined that since Miner’s oath ballot did not match Miner’s real signature, both the false vote cast on Saturday in Miner’s name and the ballot that was used on Saturday will count. Because a vote becomes private after it has been cast, making it impossible to detect and eliminate the ballot from the collection.
” This vote is so important to me, and for somebody to vote in my title — I feel so violated”, Miner said.
Erik Haight, the Republican vote director for the Dutchess County Board of Elections, stated to The Federalist that he will work with local law enforcement to find the truth about the incident.
” We were made aware of the situation almost immediately when]Miner ] showed up to vote. We gave instructions to the bipartisan group of election investigators to release Mr. We had an arrangement with both Democrat and Republican directors that this petition vote would count, Haight told The Federalist. The District Attorney’s office does investigate this situation and give me a heads-up about it.
We want to make sure that the people who are eligible to vote know their vote will count, Haight said, and that we want to make sure that the public knows our elections are safeguarded. However, if not, we will look into it.
But Miner says it’s “ridiculous” that a system — which is supposedly” secure”, according to Haight — does n’t require ID to vote, which could have prevented the fraudulent vote from being cast.
” You do n’t have to show ID to vote, I think it’s ridiculous — anyone can walk in, just as what happened to me, and say’ I’m so and so’ and vote. So I do n’t believe the system is safe right now”, Miner said. And while I am aware that I only have one voting, my ballot counts as my right to do so. One may n’t grab your vote and that be able to qualify. What if that vote was the opposite of what I voted for? I do n’t know the outcome of that vote. Finally it removes my ballot.
If New York wanted to have a degree of dignity in their elections, Miner’s position could have been avoided. One of the 14 state in which no Card is required to be presented in order to vote is the Empire State. In fact, voters who try to deliberately present an poll worker their ID for simplicity’s purpose are given the cold back — at least that’s what happened to Elon Musk’s family, Maye Musk.
” At first election in NYC now, no Card required”, Musk posted on X. ” They actually wo n’t even look at your ID”.
And New Yorkers can bless the state legislature’s Democrat supermajority for their clumsy elections. In order to be eligible for a vote, Assembly Bill 06297 was passed in April of 2023. It do require voters to present proof of identification when casting a vote.
However, Assemblyman Anil Beephan, who also supported the legislation, confirmed to The Federalist that the expenses did not make it out of commission because the Democrat supermajority forbade its passage and thus prevented it from receiving a whole floor vote. Beephan claimed that Miner’s affair only strengthens his resolve to take action to safe elections.
According to Beephan,” I’m even more determined to support initiatives in the state government that may require voting recognition at the polls.” ” It’s shocking that this crucial election year will see the results of a fictitious vote.” Yet a single illegal voting threatens the justice of election results and undermines the integrity of our political process, especially when related incidents may go unnoticed.
However, New York State Democrats are not just those who want to stop the implementation of election integrity methods. In March, Attorney General Merrick Garland made a pledge to combat election safety regulations that would involve voter identification.
” We are challenging work by states and areas to implement unfair, costly, and unnecessary restrictions on entry to the vote, including those related to mail-in election, the use of fall boxes, and voter ID criteria”.
But voter ID laws are n’t any more “discriminatory” than, for example, the Democratic National Convention requiring proof of ID in order to get in for” security” purposes.
As I previously wrote,” Voter ID requirements serve the same purpose as security screenings at the DNC: they prevent ineligible persons from participating” in elections.
If New York had voter ID laws for election” security” purposes, Miner would n’t have been disenfranchised.
