John Oliver made an emotional angle to vice chairman Kamala Harris in the last” Last Week Now” show before the US elections tomorrow. He claimed that while Kamala Harris ‘ laws are imperfect, he would support her. Would n’t it be wonderful to live in a world where Trump no longer poses a threat? he said fighting back tears. He said he’s an expat and loves the land. John Oliver, who was born in the UK, emigrated to the United States in 2019 and this was his second national election victory.
” Look, I love this country. I’m an expatriate. I chose to be here. In the words of the late, great Lee Greenwood: I’m glad to be an American. And I’d say that even if you voted for them, there is nothing more important in America than having a positive, antagonistic relationship with those in energy.
” I know he would put us through hell before he left the stage, but when the dust settled, he would have lost two votes in a string and would be campaigning as an 82-year-old the next time. I think he’d been done”, he said. ” And does n’t that sound great? I know, the problems that he’s a symptom of would of course remain, but we would n’t have to deal with him anymore. Would n’t it be great to live in a world where he’s no longer an active threat, just an annoyance”?
” I want so hard to live in that world”, Oliver concluded. And I hope anyone makes that world possible in the next 48 days.
On the Biden-Harris administration’s policy toward the war in Gaza, he said,” Look, I get why this is so difficult, and I know there are some who wo n’t vote for Harris under any circumstances because of this issue”. I wish Harris had reached up to you in other ways besides sending Bill Clinton to essentially chastise you this year. That did n’t seem remotely helpful to me, and honestly, felt a bit like bullying”.
