A constitutional amendment should be taken into consideration, according to Tayyip Erdogan’s major political ally, ANKARA, on Tuesday, saying the president may run for office again in 2028.

A legal act to secure Erdogan’s capacity to re-run in the national votes should be considered, he said in a political statement to MHP politicians.
Last month, Bahceli, a steadfast nationalist, suggested that the imprisoned leader of the forbidden Kurdistan Workers Party ( PKK) could be able to speak in parliament if he declares the end of the group’s insurgency. Bahceli rattled Turkey politics.
Some experts said the shock idea might be motivated by an AKP-MHP desire to win the support of the pro-Kurdish DEM Party, legislature’s third-biggest, for a constitutional change that could raise Erdogan’s hopes in 2028 votes.
If 360 members of the 600-seat congress support a constitutional shift, it can be put to a vote. Additionally, a preliminary vote requires the help of 360 MPs.
DEM has 57 votes, while AKP and its allies have 321.
