Megadonor Bernard Marcus, co-founder of The Home Depot and a major GOP donor, passed away at the age of 95.
” More than anything, he deeply believed in the company’s core beliefs, especially that of giving back”, the statement added. He always lost sight of his modest roots, utilizing his victory to give back to others rather than to gain fame or fortune. In business and in generosity, Bernie was unprecedented in compassion and goodwill”, a statement confirming his dying said, as reported by Newsweek.
The Giving Pledge, a commitment to give away the majority of their success, was a commitment made by Marcus and his wife, Billi, to dedicate the majority of their fortune.
” It has always been my belief that leaving our children with such enormous wealth does n’t help them learn to make it on their own. I also think that if we were to disperse as much of the wealth we already have over the course of our lifetimes, we may experience a great deal more joy,” the pledge read.
He steadfastly backed past president Donald Trump in recent elections, giving thousands to him and another conservative numbers, including the late Senator John McCain and governor of Florida Ron DeSantis.
