Kamala Harris secured a decisive victory in California on Tuesday, capturing the country’s 54 electoral votes, the largest prize in the 2024 presidential vote. The Associated Press confirmed the result, which was commonly anticipated in the position where Harris previously served as US legislator and attorney general.
In the latest matter, Harris received 312, 540 seats, while original President Donald Trump garnered 229, 242 seats. California, the world’s most popular state, has not supported a Republican candidate in a national competition since 1988. Since the 2000 election, the Republican Party has n’t faced a significant problem in California.
The country’s political environment is dominated by Democrats, who outnumber Republicans by about 2-to-1 in enrolled voters. The Democratic Party maintains a solid reputation in the Legislature and parliamentary committee and holds all statewide office seats.
This success is in line with the 2020 and 2016 primaries, where Democrats even triumphed in California. In 2020, Joe Biden won the state with 64 % of the vote, leaving Trump with just 35 %. Similarly, in 2016, Hillary Clinton claimed California with 62 % of the vote to Trump’s 33 %.
