Four years ago, it seemed inexplicable that the man renowned for creating space technology and electronic cars would continue to play a significant role in shaping the conversation among the British electorate. Then suddenly, nothing about U. S. politicians is “normal” these days.
Elon Musk and his traditional order of Twitter two years ago are raging amid the party of Donald Trump’s and Republicans ‘ election victories on Tuesday night. One of the most revolutionary decisions to have had an impact on freedom of speech in contemporary U.S. past may have appeared to be a minor acquisition for some.
Due to Musk’s order, Twitter was just another tool in the censorship business complex’s arsenal. The Big Tech company frequently worked with the federal government to judge Americans whose content, no matter how technically accurate, afouldd of government officials ‘ stressful to the rude narratives they pushed at any given time.
This evil empire had no idea what it was up to, perhaps going so far as to threaten Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. Online went into full-fledged censorship mode when the New York Post’s renowned Hunter Biden laptop story, which covered the Biden mother’s business dealings in the days leading up to the 2020 election, was dropped.
As documented in the Twitter Files, people were not permitted to share the story, perhaps via direct communication. The Big Tech company added additional connections and issued instructions that the content might be “unsafe.”
Americans simply learned years afterwards from FBI journalist Gary Shapley’s testimony that the federal government had pressured social media companies to censor the results of the story in the lead-up to the 2020 election despite having verified Hunter’s laptop and its contents in late 2019 through testimony from him.
Compare this powerful censorship system to how Musk has run X.
People no longer have to worry that their posts may be deleted or shadow-banned due to “wrong think.” The company acts as a platform where Americans and people from around the world may engage in conversation on a range of topics without the risk of censorship looming over their heads rather than serve as the house screen of talk.
The free flow of information that has taken place on the platform during the 2024 election cycle would n’t have been allowed if Musk had n’t purchased Twitter and left it in the hands of its previous anti-speech leadership.
Reporting and discussions about credible election irregularities would have been barred, if not completely eliminated. The Post’s Hunter Biden laptop account, which was portrayed in an unfavorable light, may have suffered the same fate.
Without problem, Musk’s buy of Twitter was a huge gain for Americans ‘ free speech. His choice to permit people to exercise their right on X resulted in a much better 2024 election than anyone could have hoped for.
The SpaceX leader was heavily involved in using his influence and resources to help Trump win the White House, aside from his free speech campaigning. He founded and donated to a political action committee in support of Trump and another Republican candidates in addition to speaking at gatherings while wearing his “dark MAGA” helmet.
In addition, Musk made campaign stops in battleground states like Pennsylvania, where he” a series of talks” and” a petition” to ask supporters of free speech, [the ] right to bear arms, have voted in this election. He even started a daily$ 1 million giveaway to swing-state voters who signed the petition, a move the weaponized Biden-Harris Justice Department (unsurprisingly ) threatened to take action against.
Musk did n’t have to lay his reputation — and potentially, his livelihood — on the line for Trump and Republicans. He could have easily remained motionless and left the election to opportunity. The fact that he became so engaged speaks to both his character and his problem for the republic’s future. and for that, Americans may be thankful.
