Washington: While campaigning, Donald Trump said he would be able to end Russia’s war in Ukraine in 24 hours, warned that Israel may be “eradicated” if he lost and vowed sweeping fresh tariffs on Chinese imports. Now that Trump’s won, many are asking an essential question: does he make good on his long list of foreign legislation risks, claims and pronouncements?
Trump has not provided any specifics on foreign policy, but supporters claim that the force of his character and his “peace through power” philosophy will enable persuade foreign leaders to follow his will and quiet what Republicans call a “world on fireplace” environment. They attribute the problems to President Joe Biden’s lack of leadership. According to German Council on Foreign Relations analysts,” Trump continues to be erratic and inconsistent with his foreign policy.” Trump and his supporters reject censure, saying that other nations have long taken advantages of the US and that he would put an end to it.
Trump’s response to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine may influence his strategy and how to approach important US allies and Nato. Trump asserted last year that if he had been in the White House, that the Russian president had not invaded Ukraine and that he had never done so while he was in office, adding that “even then I could resolve that in 24 hrs.”
Trump will also have to deal with a tense East Asian region that is on the verge of a regional war. He has expressed aid for Israel’s fight to kill Hamas in Gaza but has said PM Netanyahu, a Trump supporter, must finish the job fast. Trump is expected to continue supporting Israel, which he claimed would have been threatened if Harris had been elected. His approach to Israel is likely to have no restrictions on humanitarian needs, in contrast to the force that Biden has only exerted. Trump does open the door for Bibi to negotiate with Iran.
Trump made China a key component of his plan, suggesting that he would increase tariffs on its products. But he has presented a combined concept, calling President Xi “brilliant” for ruling with an “iron palm”. news
