Long plumes of ash, as high as 8, 000 meters ( 26, 250 feet ), were spewed into the air as Indonesia’s Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted eight times on Thursday.
At 00:40 am local time, the first explosion was recorded, followed by another storm two hours later. Between 6 am and 11 am, five more explosions occurred, culminating in the large dust sky.
The Indonesian company for geological has maintained the volcano’s highest level of alert because of its active state. Remedy efforts are being made to relocate affected communities, and plans are being made to build new ones for thousands of people who have been evacuated.
” We aim to complete new accommodation within six months”, said Suharyanto, head of the crisis company. Around 5,800 people from the most affected regions have been evacuated, and authorities are also assessing the disaster’s total reach.
Indonesia is located on some tectonic plates along the “pacific ring of fire,” a region known for having severe geological activity.
The volcanoes come after a fatal blast on Sunday that claimed nine lives and destroyed more than 2, 000 homes.
