Yet before Donald Trump was re-elected, his best-known sponsor, Elon Musk, had come to him with a demand for his political change. He wanted Trump to get some employees from Musk’s rocket firm, SpaceX, as best state officials- including at the military division, according to two people briefed on the calls.
That request, which would seed SpaceX employees into an agency that is one of its biggest customers, is a sign of the benefits that Musk may reap after investing more than$ 100 million in Trump’s campaign, pushing out a near-constant stream of pro-Trump material on his social media platform, X, and making public appearances on the candidate’s behalf across the hard-fought state of Pennsylvania.
Even though Musk’s billions of dollars in government contracts conflict with any state role, the awareness regarding the SpaceX workers, which has n’t been reported, shows how much he wants to fill a possible Trump presidency with his closest companions. Musk and SpaceX and Tesla, his electric-vehicle business, did not respond to requests for comment. A representative from Trump’s transition crew even declined to comment on the request for comment.
National authorities are greatly entrenched in the six businesses that Musk controls. They make billions off deals to start rockets, create satellites and offer space-based contacts services. Federal law-created emissions-trading funds are used by Tesla to generate hundreds of millions more. And Tesla’s businesses are currently the subject of at least 20 new investigations, including one involving self-driving auto technology, which Tesla believes will be crucial for the company’s future.
Then, Musk will have the hearing of the leader, who oversees all of those companies. If Trump fulfills his claim to nominate him as head of a state efficiency commission, Mussk might even have the authority to oversee them. Trump has stated that he wants him to take the same knife to the government that he used to renamed X in his campaign to buy the business. Musk has suggested cutting at least$ 2 trillion from the national budget.
The impact could be to eliminate, or diminish, one of the biggest inspections on Musk’s energy: the provincial govt. ” All the enraging protection thing disappears,” said Stephen Myrow, managing companion at Beacon Policy Advisors, a company that provides companies with regular updates on regulatory and legislative changes in Washington.
