The state’s Beat the , Street Community Center , is joining rates with the armed forces to mark , Veterans Day , this trip, both at home and on the road.
The local pub is staging the” Fight for Freedom” boxing present Friday evening at Wilcox Tech with a passport featuring soldiers from the , U. S. Military Academy , going up against competitors from the U. S. Coast Guard , Academy, UConn , and , Trinity College.
On Saturday, Beat the Street and the service college athletes likely head to suburban , Boston , to step a present at , Winchester Town Hall.
Friday evening at Wilcox may feature a fight between Beat the Street athletes. The entertainment includes dancing and DJs from the Meriden Youth Organization.
” We’ve got the kids performing during break from the party team”, said Executive Director , Larry Pelletier, who started Beat the Street as the , Silver City Boxing Club , 30 years ago. ” Everything we do is a part of the center’s various applications. We’ve evolved. Right now, we have a plan in music engineering.
Friday’s present starts at , 7 p. m.  , and may have 8-9 periods, Pelletier said. From 5:30 until showtime, Wilcox Tech cooking students may serve dinner for military veterans. The event fliers were created by ( Wilcox Tech graphic artists ).
Veterans are free to attend both the meal and boxer. Tickets for non-veterans are$ 20 individuals,$ 10 kids. Kids age 6 and under are free. Money benefit Beat the Street.
” It’s a fundraising event where we have an opportunity to showcase our kids and raise money for the organization”, said Pelletier.
