If humanitarian assistance is not provided within days of arriving in the area, WHO’s Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, warned that Northern Gaza is in danger of experiencing an immediate hunger.
Expressing distress on X, he wrote,” Deeply alarming- @theIPCinfo warns there is a strong likelihood that famine in northern# Gaza is imminent”
He urged immediate expansion and safe access to humanitarian aid, generally food and medications, to combat severe malnutrition.
The Director-General of WHO called for coordinated global action in response to the IPC Report released by the Famine Review Committee ( FRC ).
The statement, which was released on November 8, expressed concern about the Gaza Strip’s rapidly deteriorating condition and its significant potential of causing famine.
The statement made a number of measurements. It was noted that, as of October 2023, there have been no fewer help shipping entering the Gaza Strip than there have been.
The regular number of trucks entering the Gaza Strip has dropped to just 58 per day, which is the lowest level since November 2023, according to the WFP business surveillance record for the second half of October.
Additionally, it was noted that the price of essential goods like eating gas increased exponentially, even on the dark business. The complete collapse of incomes, which allow people to purchase or trade for food and other basic requirements, has been a simultaneous result of the exceptionally high and rising costs of important goods.
The report made a major observation:” It is already amply clear that the worst-case situation developed by the research team is now influencing areas of the northern Gaza Strip.”
” It can therefore be assumed that hunger, malnutrition, and excess deaths due to malnutrition and ailment, are rapidly increasing in these areas. The report noted that hunger levels may have already been crossed or will be in the close future.
Gaza has experienced more charitable crises since the start of the conflict in West Asia.
