Bangladesh’s interim government announced on Sunday that it would demand an Interpol “red see” call for ex-imminent leader Sheikh Hasina and her Awami League colleagues who are currently awaiting trial for admitted crimes against humanity. The International Criminal Court ( ICC ) in The Hague heard a report on “genocide” and other crimes against 62 people, including interim govt. chief adviser Muhammad Yunus, as part of the development.
Past president of Sylhet Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury filed the complaint. Other than Yunus and his advisers, Chowdhury likewise wants co-ordinators of the individuals ‘ rebellion prosecuted. Chowdhury has alleged “genocide and crimes against humanity against Awami League’s officials and activists, Hindus, Christians, Buddhist and authorities in Bangladesh, all of whom were killed in the name of the individuals ‘ action”. The complaint was lodged under Article 15 of ICC’s Rome Statute, which empowers individuals and others to give information on acts within the court’s jurisdiction. Nazrul, Yunus ‘ attorney, dismissed the plea as an attempt to deceive the world. ” This is not a case. It is just a plea. Any man can do that”, he said.
