In response to Moscow’s efforts to combat what it perceives as European democratic influences, Russian lawmakers have approved last policy banning the advertising of childlessness. Russia aims to address socioeconomic issues as birth rates decline and the population is aging, which have been intensified by its military plan in Ukraine.
The bill, which restricts information across numerous media outlets and promotes parental rejection, received unanimous support from the State Duma. The policy addresses particular content that encourages intentional childlessness.
Whilst individual choices remain guarded, the legislation focuses on the promotion of single lifestyles, though the functional distinction remains questionable. Sanctions include fines of up to 400, 000 francs for individuals and 5 million euros for institutions, with rules for deporting international criminals.
Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin emphasised the government’s value, stating,” Without kids, there will be no land. People will stop giving birth to children as a result of this worldview. He emphasized how it promotes traditional home values and safeguards children.
On November 20, the lower house may review the proposed legislation before President Vladimir Putin’s expected approval. This places new limits on dialogues of gender transition and LGBTQ-related topics.
Moreover, the Duma passed regulations barring foreign surrogacy from countries permitting sex change. Since 1993, immigrants have adopted 102, 403 Russian kids, according to Volodin, who criticised American approaches to care.
Since Russia’s unpleasant in Ukraine began, its opposition to liberal principles has grown. In July 2023, the land banned the “international LGBT action” and outlawed gender reassignment techniques. President Putin has consistently criticised Gay people and sex change.
This follows Russia’s 2012 restrictions on US births, implemented after a Russian boy’s death in American treatment. The nation continues to impose strict laws on LGBTQ people, further bolstering its antagonism to what it views as European progressive ideas.
