What do you contact a high-priced, pro-level geographical computing system without the necessary apps for artistic professionals? I mentioned it in June of last year, but I’ll get back to that in a minute because Apple calls it the Vision Pro, but clients call it a dud.  ,

According to a report in The Data obtained by the Cupertino-based technology company, the company is” significantly slashing generation of its first popular Vision Pro devices” from a dreary 2, 000 to a far more disappointing 1, 000. Manufacturing may stop completely this quarter, but a faster chip-equipped version will be available later in the year.
Apple, to its credit, was genuine and never anticipated a sizable sales success for the Vision Pro. ” Obviously I’d like to buy more”, CEO Tim Cook said earlier on. However, this type of the Vision Pro has a cap on how many faces it can fit on.
Also, there’s one of your issues right there. When I described the Vision Pro as” the nicest part of large electronics you can strap to your face” last year, I was n’t being being being pleasant.
Announced in mid-2023, the Vision Pro went on sale in January with a jaw-dropping starting price of$ 3, 499. Since Zeiss’s prescription lens inserts are reasonably priced, and there are two additional storage tiers, the price does n’t significantly increase there.

But the price is n’t what’s killing the Vision Pro. The equipment is almost beyond top-spec, with a power-sipping CPU, many cameras, a LIDAR sensor, and ample graphics horsepower to walk 23 million OLED pixels across stereo screens at a higher refresh rate. Apple spared no expense on the technology, and it shows.  ,
Vision Pro technology, on the other hand, is anything but Pro.
When the system was revealed at Apple’s 2023 World Wide Developer Conference, I noticed a strong connect between the” Pro” title and the marketing. If you’re going to create pro-level components and cost pro-level prices, then you’d better create a pro-level marketing ball.  ,
Alternatively, marketing has largely shown people using Vision Pro doing consumer-level actions. They’re watching videos on a digital IMAX-sized display outside by a virtual river, enjoying a family Skype phone with a purple-haired uncle, taking and editing 3D photos with the built-in eyewear cameras, or playing 3D games in the living space.
What pros need is the Adobe photo/video suite re-tooled for spatial computing, 3D CAD development tools that are actually 3D, and so on. What appear to be your favorite platforms ‘ favorite video streaming and gaming apps when they are only a few that have been created specifically for Vision Pro.

Apple was required to pay its developers a lot of money, almost certainly, to build professional-level spatial computing developer tools that were ready to go when Vision Pro debuted in January. Instead, developers seem to have been left to their own devices, which did n’t include the Vision Pro.
Tim Cook’s niche device is left, at least for now, without a niche.
