He attributed this to” the grace of Almighty God” and a “providential moment, probably,” saying that the bullet would have been connected if his head had not turned at the last second before turning backwards.
Trump thanked the Secret Service personnel who came to his aid. He thanked the crowd for not being alarmed and helping to identify the sniper so a Secret Service shooter could target and fire back. He memorialized Corey Comperatore, who was killed sheltering family members, by calling out two Pennsylvania audience members who had been hurt in the attack.
Comperatore had been a volunteer firefighter. Trump received a helmet from his company. Trump had it displayed onstage during his address, approached it, and kissed it as well.
Over time, Trump had shown some signs of ingratiation, but at his own terms. He frequently refused to praise himself when it was appropriate, but he did so when it was appropriate. Even when he had experienced hostile behavior, he was hardly ever humble or self-critical. What had changed about him?
Trump awakens, voters roar

That’s what many voters saw in the homestretch of Trump’s final run for the White House. He was enjoying himself, doing goofy things such as serving fries at McDonald’s and driving a Trump-Vance campaign-branded garbage truck.
He also made unanticipated appearances, kissing a fallen fireman’s helmet, offering an apology for a crude joke, and refusing a second debate with Harris after she had successfully defeated him in their one-village matchup.
Since Trump’s first Republican presidential campaign broke out, a lot of time and money had been spent demonizing him. A single article in the Atlantic by a popular historian likened the man to Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini.
