Denzel Washington , says he had a same-sex kiss in Ridley Scott’s hotly anticipated” Gladiator” sequel, but it wo n’t see the light of day.
The two-time Oscar winner, 69, recently told LGBTQ+ outlet Gayety about the kiss, which did n’t make the final cut in” Gladiator II”, which opens next week.
” I really kissed a gentleman in the film, but they … cut it. I think they got chicken”, said , Washington. ” I kissed a guy full on the lips, but I guess they were n’t ready for that yet. Approximately five minutes afterwards, I killed him. … It’s ‘ Gladiator.’ The love of death”.
The store said Washington’s” Gladiator II” character, Macrinus, sources having had several same-sex connections.
Late last month,  , Paul Mescal, who plays Lucius, revealed that he improvised a head love with co-star Pedro Pascal’s Marcus Acacius.
” There was a time when we were rehearsing my battle scene with Pedro, and I had an thought towards the end of the scene to love Pedro on the forehead”, the” Standard People” sun, 28, told , Entertainment Weekly. ” I did it in one of the takes, and therefore we’re getting the radio information back to Ridley]in film village], and I was like,’ Ridley: Kiss on the forehead, did you like it? Yay or no? For a minute, the television was silent. His stereo crackles up, and]Ridley ] goes,’ I’m frightened I did.'”
Perhaps so, four-time Oscar nominee Scott apparently scrapped the love in the movie to his best picture-nominated father.
Beloved by consumers and critics alike, the unique” Gladiator”, which starred , Russell Crowe,  , Joaquin Phoenix , and , Connie Nielsen, took residence five Oscars.
Almost 25 years after its , May 2000 , launch,” Gladiator II” — in which Nielsen may reprise her position as Lucilla — did hit theaters , Nov. 22.
