Some elements of “native” lifestyle actually belong in the trash bin of history, according to a new movie released by New Zealand’s House of Representatives.
The video, which went viral Thursday, showed a group of Maori ( “indigenous” ) members of the New Zealand House of Representatives screaming, chanting, and generally causing mayhem in the House chamber in response to the mere idea that a bill they did n’t like would come up for a vote.
This panic took position because the government’s parliament is considering a costs to redefine the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi, one of New Zealand’s basic records. In exchange for extensive Maori lands and freedom, the convention established the British Crown’s autonomy over New Zealand.
ACT New Zealand, the group that introduced the new costs, argues that in the last few years the rules outlined in the agreement have been used to give more privileges, like ethnic quotas in public institutions, to the Maori. ACT’s act would extend the right outlined in the agreement to all New Zealanders, regardless of race.
Of course, the Maori and their leftist allies screamed ( literally ) that this bill would strip away the Maori’s fundamental right to special treatment.
Member of Parliament Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke resurrected a copy of the invoice Nancy Pelosi-style, attempting to move the room to a group vote. Shortly, a crowd of congress members and onlookers from the rooftop joined Maipi-Clarke in the conflict, completely ignoring any efforts to restore order in the room. According to the Associated Press, they yet approached ACT president David Seymour as they chanted in a distinct attempt to intimidate him.
Brownlee briefly suspended the property and expelled two politicians, including Maipi-Clarke, from the room. Finally, the bill passed its first checking, but it will almost certainly fail in coming seats.
The “appallingly insulting” scene was led by people of the Maori-centric group Te Pāti Māori. The group extols directly Communist jobs, advocating for Maori “liberation” and endorsing equitable economic policies.
Te Patti Mori successfully resurrected the New Zealand House chamber on Thursday, breaking the rules-based political system that allows democratic governments of the Western kind to work without becoming utterly anarchic.
The ceremonial dance the House users performed, the chant, has a terrible background, as do the Maori themselves.
Before the introduction of the British, the Maori constantly engaged in ceremony cannibalism and individual sacrifice, mainly related to war. A group’s warriors would accomplish the haka, go off to battle, and then eat the flesh of slain enemies afterwards.
A Maori chief who had fled capture and consumption by an enemy tribe was the creator of the haka that the House members performed on Thursday, which has the phrase” It is death” ( which means” It is death ).
In his book This Horrid Practice, New Zealand historian Paul Moon extensively documented cases of cannibalism in Maori culture, drawing on records dating back to the legendary Captain James Cook in the 1770s, despite Maori and leftist researchers ‘ attempts to minimize ( and still do ) the frequency and significance of cannibalism in Maori culture for centuries.
Moon even noted that the Maori practiced murder. Mothers would occasionally smother adult infants or force their fingers through the smooth part of their skulls because their hero culture valued male babies.
After the Treaty of Waitangi, the European project cannibalism and mortal compromise in New Zealand to the extent that several historians doubted that any of these practices had ever occurred.
Any moral observer can infer that the Te Pti Mori members did not intend their Thursday chant as a hello or celebration, despite the assertions made by Maori revisionists that the chant does represent a greeting or a “celebration of life.”
The AP described the stunt as a “rare outburst of protest” and, of course, other leftist outlets framed it as a brave demonstration against injustice, but kids ‘ tantrums are more common than that.
It should go without saying that this show, with its directly violent undertones, is utterly intolerable in a current status. It also elucidates the fact that the brute force lifestyle of many “indigenous” groups runs directly counter to the history of politeness found in Western authorities as well as the principles of conversation, consideration, and sacrifice.
Instead of compromising with the “natives” and allowing them to masquerade as a “marginalized” group to get more handouts,  , the British should have done more to both acknowledge , Maori culture was morally , repugnant and fully assimilate , them into English culture. Their full assimilation would have prevented almost all of the Maori’s current issues and allowed the House of Representatives to function properly in the long run.
And it’s not impossible to assimilate foreign cultures. Up until a few decades ago, when we made the conscious decision to stop trying, the United States did it very well. Different, if not hundreds of cultures have assimilated throughout European history ( see any culture that fell under Roman hegemony ). It only needs to have the conviction that your culture is more morally upright and dedicated to enhancing human life. When the culture you’re trying to assimilate engages in or glorifies cannibalism and human sacrifice, that should n’t be a difficult choice.
The Maori protest on Thursday erupted because they thought sharing their previously exclusive rights with their fellow countrymen would make them feel threatened that their rights would be assimilated into the rest of the body politic.
The Maori still present themselves as perpetual victims despite the fact that they arguably secured the best deal any “native” group has ever made with European settlers with the Treaty of Waitangi.
No matter how much support Western governments give them, they will always perceive themselves as outside of the culture they live in because they were not assimilated. They’ll always want more, no matter how generously Westerners give them money, social programs, or a particular reverence. Because they do n’t want to assimilate. They want to endure their unhappy status forever and seek to ascertain Western culture’s fate as much as possible.
The same pattern can be seen in the US. The CRT scourge, which has plagued academia and public education for the past few years, is fueled by persistent victimhood. The DEI programs and quotas that define contemporary, woke corporate America resemble the ethnic quotas that resulted from the Treaty of Waitangi. So-called “marginalized” sections of the population want to receive government money and favor in the name of “restitution”. Then, by suggesting a system of equal opportunity, they scream racism at respectable individuals.
All parties would have benefitted from fully absorbing Maori culture and avoiding the blatant impudence shown toward the laws that promote good governance by rejecting Maori culture. Westerners permit the degradation of their own culture by allowing such open displays of hostility.
