Three weeks after his extraordinary arrest in Miami allegedly forced the rapper from Chicago to flee the country, rapper Lil Durk, on Thursday entered a not-guilty plea to murder-for-hire charges at his Los Angeles trial.
Lil Durk, 32, whose true name is Durk Davontay Banks, was accused of paying five affiliates of his South Side music partnership” Only the Family” to kill a foe artist. The people he allegedly hired traveled to Los Angeles in August 2022 and opened fire on the opponent’s car, tragically striking the boy’s cousin, according to the federal costs.
Businesses has been detained without bond at the federal prison in Florida since being apprehended by law enforcement as he approached a Miami-area airports on October 24. When he was detained, the allegations claim that Banks planned to take a private jet to Italy after booking three distinct international airlines.
In the case’s December reading, Banks was scheduled for a detention reading. Banks is currently being held in the federal prison in California while the marshals took him there on Wednesday.
Banks is a flight risk and a threat to the community, according to the prosecution, who requested that he be kept in jail while the trial is pending.
The accusations are the most recent to emerge from a violent conflict between rival rapper parties that extends from Chicago’s South Side to both shores.
In individual cases, Bankers and five associates were initially charged next month with a crime to revenge the death of King Von, a close friend of Banks who was killed in Atlanta in 2020, in a separate incident.
Lenders is accused of offering wealth and “lucrative audio prospects” to anyone who would destroy Quando Rondo, a Georgia-based musician whose real name is Tyquian Terrel Bowman.
Bowman, his sister and his aunt, Saviay’a Robinson, 24, were riding in Bowman’s dark Cadillac Escalade near a gas station in West Hollywood in August 2022 when gunmen opened fire, according to the costs. Robinson was struck many times and killed in addition to Bowman and his girl, who was uninjured.
A , superseding prosecution made public , last year also alleged Lil Durk” sought to market” Robinson’s death.
After the killing, Bankers released a song that included information images that featured Bowman’s response to his friend’s dying. The song, the indictment stated, “explicitly references audio from a news clip taken shortly after ( Robinson’s ) murder where ( Bowman ) screamed’ no, no! ‘ after seeing ( Robinson’s ) dead body”.
Banks was accused of conspiring to kill someone for hire and one count of using interstate services to kill someone for profit. He was even accused of using, carrying, and releasing a machine gun in connection with a violent offense that led to his death in the indictment.
The five associates named in the prosecution were: Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston. They are all being held without bond in the Chicago place right before Businesses was taken.
The most serious charges carry required life in prison if convicted, according to the U. S. prosecutor’s office.
Lil Durk founded OTF more than ten years ago as the drill music landscape in Chicago attracted attention from all over the world. According to federal prosecutors, the group mostly “produced and sold hip-hop music” from Chicago artists.
FBG Duck, the Chicago drill singer, was killed in a hail of gunfire on Oak Street in 2020, and his killing led to , the views of six men , in a provincial crime prosecution in January. Next month, FBG Duck’s family filed a lawsuit alleging Lil Durk, OTF and King Von were involved in the shooting, as well. OTF is alleged to be a criminal organization by the petition.
According to the original accusation, after tracking Marshall to the Los Angeles area, Grant rented a hotel room for the co-conspirators on Aug. 18, 2022, and eventually met them that. One of the altered weapons was a fully automatic machine weapon, which he brought along.
Grant likewise provided two occupied vehicles to “use to discover, record and destroy” Bowman, the indictment stated, a light BMW sedan and a light Infiniti. According to the indictment, the party followed and tracked Bowman’s dark Hummer from his hotel to a marijuana dispensary and then to a downtown Los Angeles clothing store.
The BMW and Infiniti reportedly follow the Escalade as it moves between businesses, according to a monitoring image that was included in the indictment.
According to the indictment, Houston drove around to the courtyard and enable Jones, Lindsey, and another unexplained co-conspirator carry out the capturing when Bowman made a stop there.
