A , Chipotle , investor is suing the company over a skimpy-portions controversy that reportedly ruined their purchase.
Disclosures of Chipotle’s uneven portion sizes that rocked social media in July and August sparked a “precipitous reduction” in the fast food company’s property, causing” significant losses and damages“, according to a proposed class-action complaint, CNN reported.
The company’s meat hinges on the schedule of the discussion, claiming , Chipotle , execs first understated how unsatisfied customers were as hangry regulars posted physical evidence of what they said were widely varying amounts of food across list items.
At one level, foods influencer , Keith Lee , panned the meat portions in a TikTok assessment that went viral. A , Wells Fargo scientist went so far as to get 75 taco bowls,  , finding madly uneven portion size.
The lawsuit, filed Monday in federal court in , Santa Ana, Calif.  , alleges the “defendants failed to disclose that , Chipotle’s portion size were inconsistent , and left some customers dissatisfied with the Company’s services”, investor rights laws firm , Robbins LLP, which is representing the plaintiffs, said in a statement. Additionally, the Company would need to ensure more compassionate portion sizes, which may increase the cost of sales, in order to address the issue and maintain customer loyalty.
In an earnings call in July,  , Chipotle , promised to right the accidental portion sizes in restaurants that then-chairman and CEO , Brian Niccol , branded as “outliers”.
” There was  , not a law to provide less to our users”, Niccol said, according to , WJRT-TV. ” Good portions is a core product ownership of , Chipotle. It always has been, and it always does be”.
But he admitted “getting the comments caused us to re-look at our implementation across our entire program” and , promised to provide bigger regions.
Soon after, he was  , lured to , Starbucks  , to replace CEO , Laxman Narasimhan.
Chipotle , declined to comment Wednesday.
” We do n’t comment on litigation and will vigorously defend our industry leading real food”, the company’s corporate affairs officer,  , Laurie Schalow, told the , Daily News , in an emailed statement.
