Grant funding in the amount of$ 63 million from the Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program of the , California State Transportation Agency, has been awarded to provide rail improvements along the Union Pacific Coast Line between , Monterey , and , Santa Barbara , counties.
According to the Transportation Agency for Monterey County, the money was given to the FAST Central Coast Program, or Facilitating and Accelerating Service Transformations.
The FAST Central Coast Program is a cooperative effort of the , Coast Rail Coordinating Council , involving the , San Luis Obispo Council of Governments, the , Transportation Agency for Monterey County,  , Santa Barbara County Association of Governments, and the , Los Angeles , – , San Diego  , – , San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor Agency.
The Coast Line is a railroad range between , Southern California , and the , San Francisco Bay Area, around along the , Pacific Coast. It is the quickest road course between , Los Angeles , and the Bay Area.
The offer award provides cash for many organized projects along the shoreline rail line between , Monterey County , and , Santa Barbara County , to raise ridership, reliability and train frequency. The organized projects include the creation of a new rail train in King City, King City, along with the addition of road roofing upgrades and staging areas for the station’s service members and Fort Fort Fort, Hunter, and the completion of the Ortega Siding, which will enable a sixth Pacific Surfliner trip and increase overall passageway efficiency for both freight and passenger rail.
