QUETTA: Secessionists fired on a military frontier post in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan territory, killing seven men, local officials said Saturday, a week after the same radical party killed 26 people at a railroad station.
A nearby official told AFP on condition of anonymity that” about 40 to 50 military jihadists attacked a frontier post held by the Frontier Corps Balochistan in Kalat region, killing seven men and injuring 15 people.
” The exchange of fire lasted several time”, he added.
The injured were “airlifted from this remote area to ( provincial capital ) Quetta for medical treatment,” according to a local civilian administrative officer who confirmed the casualties ‘ number.
Without providing further information, Balochistan Liberation Army ( BLA ) separatist group spokesman Jeeyand Baloch claimed responsibility for the attack.
The BLA often accuses Punjabis and other provinces of being the target of deadly attacks on Pakistani or security forces.
Militants have targeted power projects with foreign funding, most importantly from China, accusing locals of excluding people from the most impoverished area of the nation while ignoring those who are most vulnerable.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the “terrorist harm” in a blog on X on Saturday, promising that “immediate action will be taken against the offenders”.
The latest invasion comes a week after the BLA killed 26 people, including 14 men, at a railroad station in Balochistan, which edges Afghanistan and Iran.
After finishing a program at the Infantry School, the BLA claimed that the earlier assault “was carried out on a Muslim military unit at Quetta rail place.”
One of the highest fees to hit the area was the BLA’s claim that coordinated attacks by lots of adversaries resulted in the deaths of at least 39 people.
