The history of Martha and Mary is one of the Bible’s that almost always conjures me. I’m frequently struck by the story of two daughters who treated Jesus ‘ encounter with them separately.

Then as they went on their manner, Jesus entered a town. And Martha graciously welcomed him into her home. And she had a girl called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s legs and listened to his training. However, Martha was distracted by a lot of operating. And she approached him and said,” Lord, do you not worry that my sister left me to provide only?” Then remind her to “help me”. But the Lord answered her,” Martha, Martha, you are anxious and stressed about some things, but one thing is needed. Mary has chosen to keep the good part of her choice.
Luke 10: 38-42 ( ESV )
Here’s why this tale convicts me. This was something I previously wrote in a blog article.
I tend to be more like Martha. Before I devotion, I’m the one who tries to accomplish things, tries to help people, and makes sure everything is done in a timely manner. I tend to suppose,” Well, if Mary had helped her up, points would’ve been taken care of more swiftly, and they both may spend time with Jesus”. I understand the message that Jesus makes, that spending time with Him is more crucial than what we believe needs to be done, and I believe Martha was the firstborn. Yet I ca n’t help but identify with Martha. And if I’m not careful, I could become Martha’s critic in this tale.
This story was the topic of a sermon at church a few Sundays back. We even covered it in our little group that Sunday night coincidentally, no, divinely.

Our pastor, Kurt Petersheim, made the claim in his sermon that while Martha was doing great things, Mary did it by listening to Jesus and sat at His feet.
According to Kurt, “many of us do not understand the distinction between the best and the great.” And yet, we have n’t learned to get the Lord, his wisdom, and judgment about choosing to do things rather than just filling our lives with many great things.  , Martha, you’re quite distracted and worried and upset about several items.  , All great stuff”.
Kurt urged everyone to check their life to see if there are any positive things we are doing that also detract from our day with Jesus. We need to obey in Him, as He said to His disciples in John 15: 5,” I am the plant, you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that , bears little grapes, for apart from me you can do nothing”.
Do n’t try to make up your mind that love and faith are real, because they are. You ca n’t have faith in Jesus and not love the person you believe in, Kurt said.
His second point was that trust is accepting that we are not required by Jesus.
” Martha is likely, if you just kind of look at this psychologically, perhaps like a model personality, perhaps a real go-getter, true ambitious, right?  , A good leader”, Kurt said.  ,” And hear, we need these people in the world.  , Some of y’all are those individuals.  , We need those citizens”.

That’s why I can identify with Martha, and plenty of different people is, too. I’m a person. I like to offer. I’m a first, and my guess is that Martha was, to. Folks like us may believe that serving and acting in our own interests is a good thing for Jesus and His country.
” I’m weak and helpless on my own.  , I need Christ more than I need anything else in my life”, Kurt added.  ,” Martha had her talents, for certain, right?  , Like, Martha had capabilities.  , But what we’re seeing in her proper here is just, again, it’s that toxic need to be needed.  , God will show you kindness.  , And God will help you move through that. However, I believe that turning our attention to Christ is the number one issue we need in those circumstances.

When their brother Lazarus passed away, Martha and Mary appeared in scripture up. When Jesus came to see them and to deliver Lazarus from the deceased, Martha showed a sincere belief in Him.
When Jesus arrived, he discovered that Lazarus had spent the previous four nights in the monument. About two miles away from Bethany, some Jews were reaching out to Martha and Mary to offer comfort for their nephew. But when Martha saw the arrival of Jesus, she met him and walked over to his house, where Mary remained seated. Martha said to Jesus,” Lord, if you had been here, my nephew would not have died. But I am aware that God may grant whatever you ask of Him. Jesus said to her,” Your sibling may increase again”. He was assured that he would fall again in the ascension on the last day, as Martha had previously said. I am the living and the resurrection, Jesus said to her. Whoever believes in me, regardless of whether he passes away, will sit, and all who believes in me will not pass away. Do you think this”? She said to him,” Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the earth”.

After that, Martha returned to the house to persuade Mary to leave. What was Mary’s purpose? Suddenly, she fell at His legs.
Spending time at Jesus ‘ feet is beneficial to our beliefs. Kurt concluded with an assistance to the community. He said,” We’re going to launch, we’re going to be, and we’re going to remain at His legs.  , And we’re not gonna stop doing it.  , We’re going to sit in that area”.
My encouragement to you ( and to myself ) this week is to stay at the feet of Jesus at home, at work, and everywhere else. Our beliefs may grow stronger as we put our lives into God’s hands.
