Stories about who Governor Rubio would select for secretary of state quickly spread after Trump was first learned. Ron DeSantis may appoint to replace Rubio’s chair.

The best name that came up was Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, who now co-chairs the Republican National Committee. She also expressed her interest in it.
” I know my name has been thrown out that a bit, and I would say that my practice at the RNC has really shown me, you know, serving the British people, and if I were tapped for this, serving my home state then, of Florida, it’s a great pride and a great obligation, naturally, but I would like to be able to go forward and do more”, Lara Trump told Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo last year. I did take it very seriously if this was anything I was asked to do. But I have yet to hear from Governor DeSantis, but, we’ll see what happens”.

She did n’t, according to what I’m told.
When the Trump presidency takes office on January 20th, creating a position about two months away, according to governor. Senator Marco Rubio is expected to step down from the Senate. DeSantis stated in a Monday article on X. ” We’ve already gotten a lot of attention from a number of potential candidates, and we’re going to do preliminary screening as well.” Over the coming weeks, more in-depth screening and interviewing of candidates may be conducted, with a good selection by January 1st.

DeSantis continued,” Florida deserves a Senator who will support President Trump deliver on his election mandate, remain strong on immigration and border security, get on the rooted bureaucracy and administrative state, change the nation’s governmental decline, become animated by liberal principles, and has a proven record of results”.
It became clear that DeSantis would n’t choose Lara Trump as his nominee for the Senate seat when he said he would choose one with” a proven record of effects.” Although she has done a fantastic job as the Republican National Committee co-chair, she is n’t the best person to fill the position because of her lack of legislative acumen. A lot of Trump hardliners will probably see this as a pointy or an act of treachery on DeSantis’s element, but that’s not what’s happening around. Appointing Lara Trump as a lawmaker would be a mistake, after all.  ,
Lara is much more valuable where she is, working properly as co-chair, if Donald Trump wants to leave a lasting tradition within the Republican Party. She has played a key role in gathering operations, and removing her from that position would make things difficult to replace.  ,

Let’s face it, more important is it for the RNC to have her solid leadership right now than the Senate. DeSantis will be rebuffed by loud voices, but that does n’t mean the right thing to do. For the sake of the GOP’s future, Lara Trump may stay in her present position, where she’s making a substantial difference. It’s not about loyalty — it’s about strategy, and keeping her at the RNC is the smart play.
