Auli’i Cravalho, the words of Disney‘s favorite active Moana video, talked to The View about her job, which includes starring in Moana 2, and how as a “queer” artist, she battles “antisemitism, authoritarianism, and misogyny”.
” I did n’t see a lot of shows in Hawaii. The Disney star said on Monday that” cats” was “my first present, and Cabaret is such an extraordinary present.”
The Moana star then responded to questions about the 2024 poll results and why people chose Donald Trump over Kamala Harris, as discussed by The View co-hosts in a previous section.
” I know that as a nation, it’s extremely difficult for people to believe that racism and sexism are dead and well”, co-host Sunny Hostin said earlier in the present before Cravalho’s meeting. ” I think that we do n’t want to think that about ourselves, our neighbors, our friends, but it’s my lived experience that tells me that it does still exist”.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin and Hostin argued,” If you think the vast majority of this region voted because of racism and misogyny, you’re missing it.”
” I heard your category before this”, the Moana celebrity said. ” And I feel like it is a genuinely important issue to talk about — is that Cabaret details on racism, fascism, and sexism. The theatre, in my opinion, tears us clear and opens a mirror. I’m appreciative of being a part of a production that does that.
The 23-year-old Pacific celebrity portrays Sally Bowles in the film Cabaret, which follows a British flapper who works as a cabaret singer in Berlin during the Weimar Republic’s Jazz Age’s final years.
The View co-host Ana Navarro asked Cravalho how she’s “approaching the Broadway part particularly with those elements” of racism, fascism, and sexism.
” Well, for me, I almost feel like I do n’t have a choice. I’m the second young lady of Asian-American Pacific Island origin. I’m the youngest Sally Bowles on Broadway thus way”, she responded.

” I’m also queer”, Cravalho continued,” And all of these names of myself get put into Sally, and I think it makes that narrative so much more wealthy, you know? I think even our display is quite immersive”.
The Moana artist had announced in April 2020 that she was “bisexual”. She has even participated diplomatically by founding the Artists4Ceasefire campaign, which sent an open letter to President Joe Biden urging a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
