On Friday, the US Texas State Board of Education will adopt a plan that would help public schools to use Bible training in schools for kids in school through fifth grade.
According to the Texas Education Agency’s education, it would be recommended for schools to use lessons from the Bible, including those that include those from” Genesis” and those that follow the Golden Rule. More funding may be provided for schools that decided to implement the curriculum.
Some people claim that the plan encourages spiritual instruction in public schools, while others claim that it offers a more in-depth education to students.
” This education fails to meet the normal of an honest, liberal one”, said trainer Megan Tessler. ” Open schools are meant to teach, not indoctrinate”, she added.
The initiative’s supporters claim that it embodies standard educational principles. ” Parents and teachers want a return to excellence”, Cindy Asmussen told the committee. She continued, citing the position that” tales and ideas in the Bible play in traditional learning for hundreds of years.”
During a meeting on Monday, the table heard evidence from both sides for days. The Texas Freedom Network and other religious organizations claim that the education strongly emphasizes Christianity and disregards slavery’s past.
In addition to examining the impact of spiritual teachings in public education, states like Oklahoma and Louisiana are even considering this proposal.
Governor Greg Abbott supported the effort, which was based on a law that required the development of a free text.
