Four years ago, I asserted that we can “never once” let an election like 2020 to occur. I’m back to say that despite Trump’s around disaster, America’s election system is also broken.
And with a Republican Congress and the support of the populace, President Trump has the weather in his rear.
When the profits are really close, you can tell the most clearly that the election system is failing. We saw it in 2020 when nearly 40, 000 seats in key says tipped the vote, and not so much in 2024. But rest assured, the government still lacks confidence in the dignity of our elections, and rightfully so. They are simply partly open. The cheating devices are also available and accessible on the table. In a pending tight election, this ticking time bomb could cause chaos in America.
The major problems are very extended election periods, mass absentee ballots, lack of voter ID, thin signature verification, unprotected drop boxes, voting machines with impenetrable software and connectivity to the internet, and clumsy, false voter rolls. Why are we allowed to apply these third-world standards to our valuable votes in our personal finance and accounting practices?
Under our Constitution, we entrust poll leadership to the state. Some, like Florida, run a small, successful ship, counting all votes on Election Day in a few hours and posting vote movement online in real time. The common believes those effects. Some, like Arizona, had created a ridiculous process that takes time to qualify the vote. Even if there is no fraud either, the community is suspicious of such a Byzantine system. The idea that in Arizona and a number of other states are also counting vote days and even days after the election in the United States of America boggles the mind in 2024.
Through national policy or convincing states to pass changes, the incoming Trump administration has prioritize ensuring election integrity. The federal government may focus on standards like voter ID, accurate and clear voter rolls, and shorter election periods in a public forum. While playing on legal issues, blue states can affect national elections by lowering their standards, which would allow for cheating.
We are at a crossroads. More and more people are getting used to absent votes. But, as the Commission on Federal Election Reform, headed by Jimmy Carter and James Baker, concluded in 2005, large absentee ballots ask voter fraud. Some other civilised nations concur that they are prohibited or severely restricted from using them.
Like with money or other valuables, flawed human beings will steal them if you do n’t provide strict guardrails and safeguards. Supporters may be drawn to break the law and steal seats if they believe they can get away with it in one-party areas without supervision.
Our business and some sent tens of thousands of professionals and volunteers to watch things, which is one of the reasons there were fewer election abnormalities in 2024 compared to 2020. And, of training, it helped that the percentage was” to large to equipment” this time.
