Coca-Cola’s fresh Christmas advertising is facing criticism for its use of synthetic intelligence. The campaign, released for the 2024 holiday season, is a leisure of the company’s classic” Holidays are Coming” business, which initially aired in 1995.
Coca-Cola has the first artificial intelligence for a broadcast Christmas plan. The campaign includes a statement stating,” Created by Actual Magic AI”, referencing the bank’s software. Viewers detested the AI-generated ad on social media, particularly because Santa Claus did n’t exist, though.
One person on X stated,” What the hell happen, ya made wonderful Christmas ads, but this was awful AI, we’re ya trying to save$$$ on this and never use natural screen n actors. The OG design tune was the only factor I liked.
Another person stated,” Zero real or special about an AI lecturing humanity and consumerism. I like the classic Coca-Cola advertising, Santa, polar Bear and the likes, but ai has no seats at the innovative table”.
Nothing of Coca-Cola’s three holiday ads entirely depict Santa Claus, with only his hands, despite the uncertainty surrounding the backlash. In response to the criticism, a Coca-Cola member told Adweek:” Coca-Cola’s exciting enterprise into AI-generated storytelling demonstrates Coca-Cola’s commitment to embracing innovation, leveraging our collaborations with major innovative and technology partners, while staying true to its core values: spreading the happiness and creating true magic”!
