In a fight between surveillance forces and insurgents in Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Wednesday, the government said in a speech on Wednesday that at least 12 troops and six jihadists were killed.
The fighting took place in Bannu’s Mali Khel area, where terrorists “attempted to attack a joint check post” of the Pakistani army and paramilitary troops, Inter-Services Public Relations ( ISPR ), the army’s media affairs wing, said. A cultural captain, a lady, and four people were killed and many others were hurt when unidentified military men opened fire on a car in Bannu the day before.
According to the military’s handbook, the most recent invasion resulted in six terrorists being killed and a failed attempt to enter the post by troops, forcing the terrorists to detonate an explosive-laden vehicle at the perimeter walls. 12 soldiers lost their lives as a result of the death fire, according to the statement.” The suicide blast caused the collapse of a part of the boundary wall.
There has been a sharp rise in the number of problems targeting security forces, other law enforcement agencies, and security checkpoints, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Recent incidents of violent assault in Bannu include the killing of police officers, an attack on a prison, an attack on a girls ‘ school, and shootouts that have resulted in the deaths of various security officials.
More than 50 policemen were kidnapped on Monday from a checkpoint in the nearby cultural region of North Waziristan. They were afterwards recovered by officers, with the help of cultural elders.
Intense gunfights between militants and security personnel took place over the weekend in Tirah Valley, Khyber cultural area, near Afghanistan, with three people killed and three wounded.
On Saturday, at least seven surveillance officers were killed and 18 some wounded in Baluchistan’s Kalat place in a pre-dawn criminal assault on a checkpost. Earlier this month, at least 26 people, including 16 safety officers, lost their lives and 61 people were injured in a suicide bombing at a railroad depot in Quetta, Baluchistan’s money.
