Jamey Johnson was detained outside of Nashville on Sunday after releasing his second record since 2011.
The state singer-songwriter, who has written with Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and George Strait, is facing a misdemeanor medicine charge after he was pulled over by the Tennessee Highway Patrol for speeding,  , the Tennesseean , reported. The” In Color” artist faces up to a$ 5, 000 fine, if convicted, and is scheduled to appear in a Williamson County courtroom on Feb. 6, according to the outlet.  , Rolling Stone , reported that cannabis was found in the car.
” Right now, we can verify that Jamey Johnson was arrested on Sunday, November 17th in Williamson County. Tennessee Highway Patrol Sergeant Andrew Perez stated in an email to The Times that the affair was still being looked into.
The Times contacted Johnson’s members for comment on Tuesday, but neither the Williamson County sheriff’s and district attorney’s practices did so.
Johnson’s first song in more than a decade,” Midnight Gasoline,” was released just weeks after the arrest. He dropped six songs, including” Sober,” in which the Grand Ole Opry member discusses his battle with alcoholism in an economy he called “glorifies eating and other kinds of debauchery” before the movie’s release.
” I am 13 years sober now”, Johnson said on , his website , upon the release of” Sober” in early September. ” I have n’t had a drop of alcohol since 2011, and I know that could end this afternoon. It is a day-to-day, hour-to-hour selection.
” Restaurants are where I play most of the time, or I’m still hanging out there.” That’s where most of my pals are, “he continued”. I’m no longer a drinker like I used to.
In 2016, many users of Johnson’s group were , arrested in Mississippi , for ownership of a controlled substance, but the song was never charged in the event. Earlier this year, Johnson’s state peer , Darius Rucker was arrested , — even in Williamson County — and booked on small drug possession costs.
Despite Johnson’s decade-long saving break, he has travelling often. Next month, he joined Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Eric Church and various players in a , five-hour gift concert , honoring , Robbie Robertson, the French song, guitar, singer and musician who died last year at age 80.
Maybe explaining how long it took to transfer” Midnight Gasoline,” Johnson told , The Times , in 2010 that his followers have” been following us from the start, and they’ll following us till the end.
” They’re not looking for any measure of ( commercial ) success. And neither am I”, he said. ” That works out real well for both of us, do n’t it”?
