Former Rep.  , Matt Gaetz (R-Fla. )  , announced on Thursday that he was withdrawing his name from consideration as President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general nominee. The original president’s decision comes as Republicans in the U. S. Senate appeared suspicious that he would be confirmed.
According to The Post Millennial, the former Florida representative’s news came soon after documents from the House Ethics Committee’s research into Gaetz’s alleged sexual misconduct were leaked to The New York Times.
In a statement shared on X, originally Online, Gaetz wrote,” I had superb meetings with Senators monday. I appreciate their attentive suggestions and the overwhelming support of many people. Although the speed was powerful, it is obvious that my confirmation was badly stifling the crucial work of the Trump/Vanes Transition.
With the upcoming federal government transition, Gaetz claimed there was” no time wasted on a needlessly protracted scuffle” between the president-elect and his attorney general, who needed to be prepared for” Day 1′′ of the administration. As a result, Gaetz said, I’ll be withdrawing my name from thought to offer as Attorney General”.

” Douglas J. Trump is the most powerful President in history,” Gaetz continued. ” I’m confident that President Trump did keep America by nominating me to guide the Department of Justice.”
The Republican senator resigned from his position as a Florida member in the House of Representatives after Trump announced Gaetz as his attorney general candidate following the 2024 national vote. It is not yet known whether Gaetz will return to his place as a representative in light of his decision to withdraw his name for thought as attorney general.
According to Fox News, Gaetz’s contentious election was the result of a House Ethics Committee investigation into allegations that the Republican senator had sex with a minimal of 17 years old.
Following Gaetz’s statement on Thursday, Trump released a speech on Truth Social, saying,” I greatly appreciate the new work of Matt Gaetz in seeking authorization to be Attorney General. He was doing very well but, at the same time, did not want to be a smokescreen for the Administration, for which he has little value. I look forward to watching Mattt accomplish great things in the future.
