A state that Tesla founder Elon Musk previously accused MacKenzie Scott, writer, charity, and ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, of “destroying European culture” is now resurfacing on social media. These stories spread on different websites, including Reddit, where one article claimed that Musk had criticized Scott for her generosity, which focuses on people, minority, and excluded groups.
The state, which cites a message from Musk, is real but requires framework, according to a Snopes statement.
In a now-deleted tweet from March 2024, Musk stated that” Super wealthy ex-wives who hate their ex-partner may be listed among the reasons why Western culture died.” In response to a blog that criticized Scott’s charitable work, Maksk pointed out that over half of her gifts went to companies that dealt with race and gender problems. The post asked,” Who is Bezos ‘ father giving money to”?
While Musk did n’t directly name Scott, the context of his reply clearly pointed to the ex-wife of Bezos. Musk eventually removed the deleted post after it caused a major backlash. However, the message was preserved in the internet library.
This was n’t the first time Musk publicly criticized Scott’s charitable work. In May 2022, Musk expressed worries about her funds, particularly to Democrat reasons, according to a Snopes record. He suggested that Scott, in retaliation for her divorce from Bezos, was targeting all technical tycoons, including him, by supporting social movements he believed opposed his company projects, like Tesla.
Scott is a popular charity. At the time of her 2019 divorce from Jeff Bezos, after 25 years of marriage, Scott, 50, received a 4 % stake in Amazon. According to Forbes, her net worth is$ 30 billion, down from$ 38 billion just a few days earlier, and significantly lower than her$ 59 billion peak in 2021.
