Just weeks after resigning from thought as Donald Trump‘s attorney general, former congressman Matt Gaetz made an hints about a potential run for governor of Florida.
On Saturday, Gaetz responded to a post by former Florida House Representative Anthony Sabatini, who wrote on X ( formerly Twitter ),” Gaetz will be the next Governor of the State of Florida”. The Florida state flag waving GIF was used as Gaetz ‘ response.
Gaetz announced he was no more a candidate for attorney general, which sparked rumors about his political future. Current Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is term-limited and never get re-election.
After Trump had nominated him for the position of solicitor colonel on November 13th, Gaetz resigned from Congress. Nevertheless, he left open the possibility of reclaiming his House seats in the 119th Congress.
Gaetz will be the subject of an ongoing morality investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct and substance use if he decides to return to the House. Gaetz denies these complaints.
On April 1, 2025, a special election is scheduled to complete Gaetz’s legislative seat.
Donald Trump, incoming President, announced his collection of Pam Bondi for Attorney General on Thursday. Bondi, recently Attorney General in Florida, did lead the Justice Department.
