Special Counsel Jack Smith asked U. S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan to cut the Biden-Harris government’s election usurpation and classified records cases against President-elect Donald Trump on Monday.
” The ( Justice ) Department’s position is that the Constitution requires that this case be dismissed before the defendant is inaugurated”, Smith wrote in a court filing pertaining to the federal government’s election subversion case against Trump, according to CNN. The defendant’s case against him is not decided by its merits or durability.
Trump was formerly charged with four misdemeanor counts in August last year after being accused of trying to reverse the effects of the 2020 election. The costs included conspiracy to defraud the United States, plot to obstruct a court order, obstructing and attempting to hinder a court order, and plot against right.
