After a confrontation that involved constantly stomping on his chair, a passenger on United Airlines Flight 502 from Austin to Los Angeles was restrained.
The event, which occurred on 16 November, was caught on video and has since gone viral online.
The man is seen fiercely kicking his sat seat while startled passengers watched as he stood in his seat while wearing a hoodie and sweatpants.
The New York Post reported that other flyer Gino Galofaro, who was the photographer, awoke to the noise less than an hours before the plane touched down at LAX. Despite the destructive behaviour, first attempts to act were minimal.
Galofaro, a San Diego-based habit counsellor, later joined two other travellers to control the man. His hands and feet were fastened to his desk and he was secured with zip-ties. Upon the jet’s appearance, the man was met by law enforcement.
A representative for United Airlines acknowledged the event, thanked the team for their actions, and ensured the safety of the passengers on board. The customer is prohibited from upcoming flights by the airport.
The film received a wide range of shock-to-humor website reactions.
Reddit people joked about the boy’s pranks, with one quipping he was “testing out the new lie-flat votes in United Economy”.
Nevertheless, Galofaro expressed a wish to call the man’s family to provide help.
