Donald Trump‘s transition team may begin coordinating with national authorities two times before he takes office, according to an announcement made by the Biden administration.
” Trump is entering the next phase of his president’s move by executing a memorandum of understanding with President Joe Biden’s White House”, Susie Wiles, the approaching White House chief of staff, said in a statement. ” This wedding allows our expected Cabinet nominees to commence important procedures, including the rollout of getting teams to every department and agency, and finish the orderly transition of power,” says the minister.
Trump’s team has been slower to mark a formal agreement to begin the process, despite President Joe Biden’s promise of an orderly transition once it became clear that Trump had won the 2024 election. The timeframe for the document was Oct. 1, according to federal statute.
Trump had even refused the General Services Administration’s change resources, including office space, technology, administrative support, and other , services , as required under the , National Transition Act. The president-elect , eschewed signing , two distinct notes of understanding with the GSA as well and has never signed a necessary ethics program.
Some conservatives argued that Trump if rather fund the transition efforts to avoid the GSA’s required disclosure policies. The costs would likely fall between$ 14 to$ 16 million.
Biden’s White House spokesperson Saloni Sharma reiterated the importance of a smooth transition of authority, but she expressed anger with Trump’s inability to mark the GSA documents.
She said that since September, the White House and the GSA have consistently argued with the Trump transition staff to mark both the GSA and White House MOUs as both parties have done in previous moves. Trump has just signed the memo.
The Trump-Vance change group has agreed to crucial protection as part of the White House MOU, including protecting non-public data from conflict of interest, such as who has access to the information and how it is shared, according to Sharma’s speech. The Trump move team’s ethics plan may be made available on the GSA website, according to the MOU.
The Biden White House stated that it will continue to work with the incoming administration in accordance with the National Transition Act despite Trump’s choice to not sign the GSA deal.
According to the Trump team’s statement, the change will not use tax money, government properties, or GSA-provided technology, and will operate as a” self-sufficient business”.
The news reads,” This corporate freedom means a streamlined method that guarantees the Trump management is set on Day 1 .” We wo n’t need additional bureaucratic or security oversight because the transition already has security and information protections in place.
Trump’s team confirmed that its own morality plan may be posted to the GSA website and that it meets the requirements set forth by the organization for incoming personnel.
