A 23-year-old gentleman in Xian, China, just had a stones removed from his nostril after it had been lodged it for two years. The man, identified as Xiaoma, had experienced severe sneezing, nasal congestion, and a runny nose for nearly a quarter before seeking medical attention.
He initially tried traditional Chinese medicine, but it did n’t help. At Xian Gaoxin Hospital, he was diagnosed with allergic rhinitis and medics found a foreign thing in his nasal passage. An biopsy, performed by otolaryngologist Yang Rong, revealed a two-centimeter ball, according to a South China Morning Post statement.
“During the oral biopsy, we discovered a foreign thing – a pale lump coated with secretions. Upon separation, it turned out to be a two-cm stones, partially corroded from being lodged in his oral chamber for an extended period. It was located in the lower nasal passage, causing damage to the nasal mucosa, ” Yang explained, as quoted by the South China Morning Post report.
Xiaoma believes the ball may have entered his head when he was three or four years older. The ball was physically removed. Physicians noted the procedure was dangerous because the ball had adhered to the surrounding tissues and could have fallen into his lung and caused him to choke.
It is unknown if there are any long-term wellness results from the ball being lodged in his head for so much.
“Parents may pay close attention to foreign objects in the oral cavity. They may fall into the postnaris or lung, posing a lethal hazard. Such situations usually require fast emergency care, ” Yang warned, as quoted by South China Morning Post statement.
