The investigation comes after a BBC documentary that extensive allegations of rape and sexual assault against the original Harrodss owner. Over 400 girls and testimony have come forth alleging sexual misconduct by the tycoon since the show’s launch, according to the authorities.
The officers said that “numerous patients, some reporting many crimes”, had come forth following a renewed public appeal. According to them, a professional police unit may review all reviews and look into all leads.
To find out if anyone connected to Al-Fayed might be a part of any possible crimes, officers are also looking into their whereabouts. Also, they are reviewing previous examinations for missed options. Over 50, 000 pages of evidence, including survivor claims, have been examined.
Despite Mohamed Al-Fayed’s absence from prosecutors, the Met’s Specialist Crime Command chief Stephen Clayman stated,” This analysis is about giving victims a tone.”
” But, we are then pursuing any people suspected of being responsible in his insulting, and we are committed to seeking righteousness”.
Clayman added that “past occasions may have impacted the public’s trust and confidence in our strategy” but that the authorities are “determined to restore that trust by responding to these claims with dignity and precision.”
Before, the police had confirmed identifying 60 possible victims.
Following problems about how the police force handled earlier inquiries into Al-Fayed’s alleged sexual abuse, the police force referred itself to the UK authorities watchdog. Charges have also been made against Al-Fayed’s soon boys, Salah and Ali.
Mohamed Al-Fayed died in August 2023 at the age of 94.
