A US-based make company called SunFed has ordered the recall of large-volume orders of whole, fresh cucumbers after they had a potential salmonella contamination.
vegetables from 26 US says and five American counties are subject to the recall.
The damaged vegetables were sold between October 12 and November 26, 2024, and were packaged in bulk cardboard vessels, common white boxes, or dark plastic containers.
According to CBS News, these vessels are labelled with the” SunFed” brand or a sticker indicating the grower’s name,” Agrotato, SVA de C”.
The US Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ) notified SunFed of the potential contamination, and the recall was initiated. Although it has not been established how many conditions are linked to cucumber, it was reported that persons had gotten sick after consuming the goods between October 12 and November 15.
The company, in its assertion, urged consumers to assess any cucumber they may have purchased to assure they are not part of the recall. Recalled products should not be consumed, sold, or distributed, and should be destroyed or returned to the position of order, the statement added.
Salmonella, a bacteria that causes gastrointestinal illness, can lead to serious ailments such as illness, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
In some cases, it can result in more severe problems, such as brain infection or even death, especially in vulnerable groups like kids, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency estimates that symptoms generally appear six to six days after consuming contaminated foods.
