Although it was the standard time for a adverse news release, I didn’t believe he would actually do it. There was no need.
In the PR business, we’re generally paid to improve attention, but every now and then, we’re paid to reduce it. This is how we deal with negative reports — such as an awkward constitutional entrance, or a disturbing financial reporting. For a very long time, the time-honored play in the PR handbook was to plan the launch when one’s distracted, traveling, or on vacation — the typical news plop on Christmas, Thanksgiving, or the July 4th weekend.

Believe me, it wasn’t sudden that Joe Biden made the whole, unwavering forgive of Hunter Biden later on Sunday night during the Thanksgiving holiday trip!
But it was still a strange walk, because January 20 is an even better time than Thanksgiving. Dumping your bad media during a vacation is effective, but it’s not nearly as good as disseminating it when a bigger, brighter, bolder narrative will swallow all , the air out of the room.
And on January 20, the great information will be the Trump opening.  ,
The morning of January 20, 2025, often was ( and still is ) the ideal time to forgive each and every Biden friend, family member, stooge, consigliere, and sycophant with little backlash. It was the obvious PR choice! Democrats almost always coordinate their political actions with PR moves, which is one of the key advantages of having such ideological alignment with the mainstream media, in contrast to Republicans.
Even if the GOP wanted to coordinate its political decisions with PR decisions, its success rate would still trail the Democrats. PR works best, after all, when the outlets are sympathetic to your cause. When they are, it’s the most cost-effective way to publicize your message.
Liberals have an institutional advantage.
But the upside for conservatives is that if you know how PR works, you can “reverse-engineer” the Democrats ‘ political tactics.  , All you gotta do is decipher the PR tea leaves.  ,
So why now pardon Hunter Biden?

The December sentencing date might be a possible explanation. If Hunter’s sentencing is in December, then you can’t wait’ til January, right?
It’s a possibility, but I doubt it. These are the Bidens, for crying out loud — the most politically-protected, legally-insulated family in America! And since December is the holiday season, I’m sure a creative attorney could come up with ideas for various causes of delays.
All they had to do was kick the legal can a month or so away, and then present Hunter with his” Get Out of Jail Free” card on January 20.  ,
Another theory contends that President Biden needs to clear the political slack by organizing an even more contentious event for January 20. ( Gulp. ) I don’t think that’s the answer, either, since signing a pardon takes virtually no time, it’s not like pardoning Hunter would preclude anything else.  ,
If anything, the political “hit” from pardoning Hunter has weakened Biden even further. His political influence has essentially vanished.
Therefore, the other possible theory that needs to be taken into account is this: Perhaps Joe Biden doesn’t intend to be president on January 20.  ,
Maybe he’s planning to resign before then.
It’s possible that he has chosen to step down on his own. It could be a favor to ( and/or “backroom agreement” with ) Kamala Harris. It might be a capitulation for cabinet members who threaten to revoke the 25th Amendment. It could be a lot of things. However, a Thanksgiving pardon would suddenly make a lot more sense if he doesn’t intend to serve as president for very long.

The Hunter Biden pardon implies that Joe Biden intends to resign the presidency, according to your tinfoil hat conspiracy theory of the day.
This has been such a wacky, unpredictable presidential campaign, it’d be foolish to discount anything. So, I’d put the likelihood of Biden resigning at about 33 %.
Why only 33 %? Because the other theory is less machiavellian and more pompous and self-serving, President Biden might no longer care about the political game. Instead, he told his doctors that his poor staff had to make the most of it because he wanted his child free and clear by Christmas.
And honestly, that theory rings true, too.
