Spotify Wrapped’s active annual recap of your listening habits—at once cherished and reviled—is up again. But in 2024, the bright photos may be accompanied by a brand-new sound add-on crafted with synthetic knowledge.

Starting now, Spotify users will now get the chance to talk to their annual report as a personal, AI-powered podcast, in which two chemical hosts discuss the person’s most-played tracks and beloved artists with excitement.

The new radio review is powered by Google’s NotebookLM. If you’ve used Google’s AI tool to create an sound radio about a subject you’re researching, finally the two AI-generated accents in the Wrapped radio may sound familiar. The tones, which Spotify refers to as” Artificial visitors”, will participate in a simple talk about you and your 2024 listening habits. The function will move out in English in the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and Spotify’s house state of Sweden. And just like the long-standing visible incarnation of Wrapped, the AI audio will be readily shareable.

The radio is thoroughly personalized. The two guests use the next person to handle people and use the name. The guests will analyze the data Spotify has collected about you in addition to providing you with painful facts ( such as your top performer and the number of days you spent listening ). They’ll suit you—they told me I’m a “tastemaker”, and called my songs style” but different” and” but unique”. They will add information about your life to your listening patterns. For instance, they told me that they could picture me dancing to Chappel Roan’s” Red Wine Supernova” while wearing bright pilates gear in the bath. They inquired about my life, and one day they even wondered what I was doing on January 9, the evening I listened to more music minutes than any other day in 2024.

This isn’t Spotify’s primary day incorporating an AI-powered words into the Covered knowledge. Last month, the product’s native AI DJ, called DJ X, was included as a Wrapped add-on, providing commentary on people ‘ 2023 listening patterns. Spotify expanded this have this year to include Spanish speakers, indicating that the company sees a prospect in AI-generated voice.

Users are concerned about Big Tech’s security of their behaviour and extensive data collection, which is why this AI-enhanced version of Wrapped is released at a time when this is happening. Spotify has received criticism for rebranding its exact user activity tracking system as a warm and shareable holiday present. Listeners have also been reluctant to take a chance on AI-generated podcasts, which usually feature cloying online hosts who appear strange in their attempts to sound human.

The company’s responsibility to positioning itself as the top destination for the long-form sound medium is demonstrated in the podcast version of Spotify’s yearly personal report. Third a billion people have listened to a podcast on Spotify since 2019, according to the business, since the program added apps to its streaming collection in 2019. The audio streaming company continued to expand its podcast-related products over the past year by allowing users to post below podcast shows and by providing tools for podcasters to monitor and expand their audience growth.

This Wrapped feature, which is not nearly as common as other forms of conceptual AI, will probably serve as the introduction for some users. With this implementation, those users will speak for the first time the potential of AI-generated conversation to sound strikingly similar to a human-to-human talk. Spotify’s expanding roster of podcast creators may find it distressing to listen to because they may disagree with their own efforts by hiring Wrapped’s AI hosts.

Not coincidentally, Spotify Wrapped lands one day after Apple Music’s similar Replay report. Apple Music users won’t receive a team of two captivated AI podcast hosts breaking it down for them, even though they will receive much of the same listening data as Spotify users do. Maybe next year.
