In granting the incoming Trump presidency border security revenue and tax reduction, House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris (R-MD) argued that the former should be prioritized over the latter.

” So what you do is you have two reconciliation bills going through the process: the first one, strictly border or maybe border and defense, as Sen.]Mike ] Lee (R-UT) said, and then the second one, this big omnibus package that also includes trillions of dollars in spending cuts”, Harris said on Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria Bartiromo. ” But once, that’s going to take months to work out. We need to offer on the border right away, ensure that the leader has the resources necessary to close it, and then return the millions of illegal immigrants who are here, including more than one million who are currently being deported on an energetic deportation order. He needs the sources, he needs them right away, and the Americans sent a very clear mission in November to end the frontier nonsense that was going on under this administration.
Before April 30, 2025, Harris asked Bartiromo about whether Congress could pass legislation to address both the borders and inflation, saying that the latter would “drag on into the summer” while the border needs to be resolved right away. Additionally, he added that the border issue is the most straightforward for Congress to address and that voters are interested in receiving” a statement” from both the incoming president and Congress.
” We will provide tax relief to the American people, but we need to offer on the frontier, we need to do it quickly”, Harris said. ” That’s why we take the two-pronged method”.

Trump campaigned on the frontier as a big issue in order to defeat Vice President Kamala Harris at the ballot box. Ahead of Jan. 20, 2025, when Trump may return to power in the White House, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley issued a call for the president-elect to get all of his Cabinet contenders confirmed by the Republican-controlled Senate, as the first 100 times of the president’s leadership needs to” began moving really”.
Sen. elect Bernie Moreno (R-OH) has also called for Republicans to engage and job to ensure Trump’s Cabinet, noting that the 2024 vote was unfortunately about “open borders and great prices” that voters want to see addressed. He even argued that the notion of Washington holding off on to resolve issues is no longer relevant and that the GOP needs to act quickly to fulfill its authority.
