In March the Republican-led House passed H. R. 3391, which would remain funding analysis of neonatal conditions like childhood cancers. Under the management of Democrat Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, the regulations previously appeared in the Senate. However, Democrats are now attempting to pass 1, 500+ pages of bacon using cancer-sick children as leverage.
On Wednesday Speaker Mike Johnson unveiled a 1, 500-page so-called” going quality” that was really nothing more than a placed federal costs that included cash for censorship, sweetheart deals for Congress, and various unnecessary expenditures. Almost immediately the pork-stuffed” continuing resolution” was rebuked by millions of Americans, including President-elect Donald Trump and incoming co-director of the Department of Government Efficient ( DOGE ) Elon Musk.
Following public pressure, the House released a trimmed-down version ( 116 pages ) on Thursday. That budget provides for the state through March 14. The initial bill’s$ 110 billion in disaster relief and farmer’s support is retained in the new version, which also suspends the bill roof for two centuries. Additionally, the cash for childhood cancer was eliminated in the new variant.
Democrats are outraged about money for pediatric cancer study after H. R. 3391 has been sitting in the Senate for months under Schumer’s command.
The Bulwark’s Sam Stein wrote that after “pediatric tumor research proponents spent times” working to obtain money,” Elon began tweeting”. Elon “killed the resources deal”, according to Stein, and with it funding for youth cancer research.
Hawaii Democrat Sen. Brian Schatz posted on X: “F-ck cancers. Particularly pediatric cancer. These individuals want to condemn these illustrious children as they pay taxes on the wealthiest companies in human history.
Jon Favreau, a host of Pod Save America, attributed Musk’s demise to Elon Musk, who “gave the people what they want: less money for child cancer research.”
Where, however, did Favreau, Schatz, and Stein condemn when Schumer sat on H. R. 3391? Why haven’t they started urging Schumer to follow his lead by passing legislation he now has?
You’re not the good guy if you only speak out in support of funding for children’s cancer research when your own party supports the legislation ( after Republicans passed it ), but when you can use it to tarnish your political foes and pass legislation that would allow you to pass it. You’re a coward by using bored children as a means of funding your favorite projects.
