During a meeting where healthcare reforms were being discussed, Chilean lawmaker Cathy Juvinao was exposed on camera smoking in Parliament. She has since apologized. She was spotted hurriedly stowing away her vape pen as she addressed the parliamentary system during a conference on health policy change, according to USA Today.
After vaping, she spoke out against the Brazilian parliament’s proposal for a health care reform.
As a member of the Green Alliance Party, Juvina represents Bogota, Colombia’s capital town.
She said in a statement issued shortly after the film gained popularity on social media that she would not follow the awful example and would not repeat what happened.
Smoking and vaping are prohibited in federal buildings in Colombia, including the political halls, local media reported. Gustavo Petro, Colombia’s president, signed into law policy earlier this year to enact laws to stop and regulate the sale of digital cigarettes and vaping products.
